Kendall Bowser is a 24 year old folk pop songwriter based in Nashville, TN. In hopes to create music that makes the ones who love the hardest feel seen, understood and loved, Kendall Bowser’s upcoming EP details the “after” of a relationship, the sobering truth of everything that happened and all of its collateral emotional aftermath.

In comparison to her previous project, Kendall focuses on crafting the soundscape of the EP. Intentionally aiming for a more folkier, Americana sound, this new installment of Kendall’s sonicscape has a natural wind chime ring, glassy and organic touch. The hollowness in the acoustic guitar and the lively and rhythmic drum accentuate her crystalline vocal to a near-translucent quality. The strip-back composition shaves off the emotional harshness of heartbreaks and goodbyes, leaving plenty of room for the narrative to breathe.

Detailing the not-too-linear process of getting closure and the tug-and-pull nature of self realization, Kendall’s whimsical vocal and her incredibly observational and empathetic lyricism wrap tender feelings with care and recognition. From the gentle, awakening moments captured in tracks like “Healthy,” to the emotional outbursts of “You don’t call me” that echo and reassure one’s weakest moments, she captivates the full spectrum of the breakup arc, with all of its grief, resentment, realization and acceptance.

Like the breeze that creeps through the rolled down windows on a getaway rustic trip, the morning blankets creasing under the first ray of sun, Kendall’s next EP gives meaning and validation to those alone thoughts and hushed monologues. She narrates the spiraling thoughts of missing someone out of habits in “Got Away” and “You’re mine,” all while recognizing the freeing nature of a break through songs like “Like I do.” Instead of dwelling and wallowing, Kendall simply acknowledges the complexities and necessity of every bit of being brokenhearted.

For fans of Maggie Rogers, Lizzy McAlpine and Cece Coakley, Kendall Bowser certainly creates for herself, but also people who want to be authentically themselves through both love and heartaches. With music being a healing experience and a sense of release for herself, she seeks to resonate by voicing the feelings that got tucked away for the sake of good faith. Sensitive, hopeful and all-embracing, Kendall finds ease among the unease of heartbreaks.

The first single of Sober Truths, “Got away,” will be released on May 19th, 2023. Kendall Bowser plans on revealing the story one step at a time with rolling singles, as well as the full EP later this fall.
